Indication

Treatment of elevated intraocular pressure in ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma.

Dosage (summary)

One drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily; may increase to three times daily if needed.

Special Populations

  • Renal impairment
  • Hepatic impairment

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Safety in pregnancy and lactation has not been established.

Key Drug Interactions

  • Oral carbonic anhydrase inhibitors
  • CYP3A4 inhibitors

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to components
  • Severe renal impairment
  • Hyperchloraemic acidosis
  • Concomitant therapy with oral carbonic anhydrase inhibitors

Common side effects

  • Taste perversion
  • Temporary blurred vision
  • Ocular discomfort
  • Dry eye

Counselling Points

  • Avoid contact with the eye tip
  • Remove contact lenses before use
  • Wait 15 minutes before reinserting contact lenses

Serious warnings

  • Serious hypersensitivity reactions possible
  • Not studied in hepatic impairment
  • Potential for additive effects with oral carbonic anhydrase inhibitors
