Dosage (summary)

Starting dose: 7.5 mg daily, may increase to 15 mg after 2 weeks.

Special Populations

  • Elderly
  • Renal impairment
  • Hepatic impairment

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Key Drug Interactions

  • CYP3A4 inhibitors
  • CYP2D6 substrates

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity
  • Urinary retention
  • Severe hepatic impairment

Common side effects

  • Dry mouth
  • Constipation
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness

Counselling Points

  • Take once daily with liquid
  • Do not chew or crush tablets
  • Monitor for anticholinergic effects

Serious warnings

  • Caution in narrow-angle glaucoma
  • Risk of urinary retention
