Indication

Treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults.

Dosage (summary)

One tablet once daily on an empty stomach; bedtime dosing may improve tolerability.

Special Populations

  • Renal impairment
  • Hepatic impairment

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Not recommended in pregnancy; may cause fetal harm. Avoid breastfeeding to prevent HIV transmission.

Key Drug Interactions

  • Voriconazole
  • St. John's wort
  • Astemizole
  • Benzodiazepines
  • Ergot derivatives

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to components
  • Moderate to severe renal impairment
  • History of liver injury with efavirenz
