Indication
Hypertension, heart failure, and to improve survival after myocardial infarction.
Dosage (summary)
Initial dose: 2.5 mg to 10 mg once daily; maintenance dose: 20 mg once daily, adjusted based on blood pressure response.
Onset of Action / Duration
Onset of action: 1 hour; peak effect: 6-8 hours; duration of action: 24 hours.
Special Populations
- Elderly patients
- Patients with renal impairment
- Patients with hepatic impairment
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Contraindicated during pregnancy (especially in the second and third trimesters) and lactation.
Key Drug Interactions
- Potassium-sparing diuretics may increase the risk of hyperkalemia.
- NSAIDs may reduce the antihypertensive effect.
- Other antihypertensive agents may have additive effects.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to lisinopril or any component of the formulation.
- History of angioedema related to previous ACE inhibitor treatment.
- Pregnancy and lactation.
