Indication

Dosage (summary)

Adults: 100 mg once daily; may use 50 mg twice daily.

Special Populations

  • Renal impairment
  • Elderly

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation; may cause hypotonicity in newborns.

  • Hypoglycaemic agents
  • Phenothiazines
  • Antiarrhythmic agents

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to atenolol
  • Pregnancy
  • Lactation
  • Second/third-degree heart block
  • Cardiac failure

  • Bradycardia
  • Hypotension
  • Fatigue
  • Dizziness

  • Take as prescribed
  • Do not discontinue abruptly
  • Monitor for signs of hypotension

  • Abrupt discontinuation may exacerbate angina
