Indication

Dosage (summary)
Adults: 2 CO-TRIMOXAZOLE 480 tablets or 1 CO-TRIMOXAZOLE 960 tablet twice daily after meals.
Special Populations
- Renal impairment
- Elderly patients
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

- Warfarin
- Phenytoin
- Zidovudine
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to sulphonamides or trimethoprim
- Porphyria
- Liver impairment
- Megaloblastic anaemia
- Renal failure
Common side effects
- Skin rash
- Nausea
- Headache
- Dizziness
Counselling Points
- Monitor for skin reactions.
- Maintain adequate fluid intake.
- Avoid sun exposure.
Serious warnings
- Severe skin reactions (SJS, TEN)
- Agranulocytosis
- Hepatic necrosis
