Indication
Fast relief of indigestion and heartburn; urinary alkaliniser.
Dosage (summary)
Adults: 5 ml or 1 sachet in water; max 2 doses every 2-3 hours, max 14 days.

- Hepatic impairment
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Safety in pregnancy and lactation not established.
Key Drug Interactions
- Increased renal clearance of acidic medicines
- Decreased renal clearance of basic medicines
- Enhances lithium excretion
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity
- Hypertension
- Heart failure
- Cirrhosis
- Metabolic alkalosis
- Hypocalcaemia
- Hypochlorhydria
Common side effects
- Flatulence
- Stomach cramps
- Abdominal distension
Counselling Points
- Do not exceed recommended dose
- Consult a doctor if discomfort persists
- Avoid use in sodium-restricted diets
Serious warnings
- Use with care in renal insufficiency
- May cause metabolic alkalosis
- Excessive use may lead to sodium overloading
