Indication
Bleeding oesophageal varices.
Dosage (summary)
Initial: 1.7 mg (2 ampoules) IV every 4 hours; adjust to 0.85 mg (1 ampoule) for <50 kg or adverse effects.
Onset of Action / Duration
Onset: 30 mins, Duration: 4 hours
Special Populations
- Elderly
- Paediatric
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Contraindicated in pregnancy; insufficient data for breastfeeding.
Key Drug Interactions
- Increased hypotensive effect with non-selective u03b2-blockers
- Bradycardia with beta-blockers

- Hypersensitivity to terlipressin
- Pregnancy

- Nausea
- Diarrhoea
- Headache
