Indication

Dosage (summary)

2-4 mL (10-20 mg) for adults.

Onset of Action / Duration

Onset: 10-15 mins, Duration: 2-3 hours.

Special Populations

  • Elderly

  • Patients with cardiovascular impairment

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Not recommended in early pregnancy; reduced dose in late pregnancy; minimal risk during breastfeeding.

Key Drug Interactions

  • Other local anaesthetics
  • Antidysrhythmics (e.g., amiodarone)

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to bupivacaine
  • Active CNS disease
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Coagulation disorders

  • Urinary retention
