Dosage (summary)
200/25 mg once daily with or without food.
Special Populations
- Elderly
- Renal impairment
- Hepatic impairment
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Not recommended in pregnancy unless no alternatives; contraindicated in breastfeeding.
Key Drug Interactions
- Anticonvulsants (e.g., carbamazepine, phenytoin)
- Rifampicin
- St. John's wort
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to active substances
Common side effects
- Diarrhoea
- Nausea
- Headache
Counselling Points
- Take once daily, do not chew or crush tablets.
- Use effective contraception.
- Monitor for signs of liver dysfunction.
Serious warnings
- Lactic acidosis
- Severe hepatomegaly
- Risk of hepatitis B exacerbation upon discontinuation
