Indication

Dosage (summary)

One tablet daily for adults.

Special Populations

  • Renal impairment
  • Hepatic impairment

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Not recommended in pregnancy; avoid breastfeeding.

Key Drug Interactions

  • Avoid with other tenofovir or emtricitabine products
  • Caution with didanosine

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity
  • Pregnancy and lactation
  • Creatinine CL < 60 mL/min for PrEP
  • Creatinine CL < 50 mL/min for treatment

Common side effects

  • Nausea
  • Diarrhoea
  • Headache

  • Adhere strictly to dosing schedule
  • Use additional preventive measures for HIV transmission
  • Monitor for signs of lactic acidosis

Serious warnings

  • Lactic acidosis
