    10 mg once daily for adults.

    Special Populations

    • Renal impairment
    • Hepatic impairment
    • Elderly

    Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

    Contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

    Key Drug Interactions

    • Insulin and insulin secretagogues may increase hypoglycaemia risk.
    • Diuretics may increase dehydration risk.

    Contraindications

    • Type 1 diabetes mellitus
    • Moderate to severe renal impairment
    • Pregnancy
    • Breastfeeding
    • History of pancreatitis

    Common side effects

    • Hypoglycaemia
    • Dizziness
    • Urinary tract infections
    • Genital infections

    Counselling Points

    • Monitor for signs of ketoacidosis.
    • Stay hydrated.
    • Report any genital or perineal symptoms.

    Serious warnings

    • Risk of ketoacidosis
    • Volume depletion
    • Necrotising fasciitis of the perineum
