    Dosage (summary)

    50 mg once or twice daily, adjust based on combination therapy.

    Special Populations

    • Renal impairment
    • Hepatic impairment
    • Elderly

    Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

    Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

    Key Drug Interactions

    • ACE-inhibitors (risk of angioedema)
    • Thiazides
    • Corticosteroids

    Contraindications

    • Hypersensitivity to vildagliptin
    • Hepatic impairment

    Common side effects

    • Hypoglycaemia
    • Dizziness
    • Nausea
    • Arthralgia

    Counselling Points

    • Take with or without food
    • Monitor for signs of pancreatitis
    • Avoid driving if dizzy

    Serious warnings

    • Risk of acute pancreatitis
    • Monitor liver function
    • Not for type 1 diabetes
