Indication

Prevention of acute and delayed nausea and vomiting from chemotherapy.

Dosage (summary)

125 mg orally 1 hour before chemotherapy on Day 1, then 80 mg daily on Days 2 and 3.

Special Populations

  • Renal impairment
  • Hepatic impairment

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Safety in pregnancy not established; breastfeeding not recommended.

Key Drug Interactions

  • CYP3A4 inhibitors
  • CYP3A4 inducers
  • Warfarin

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to aprepitant
  • Concurrent use with pimozide, terfenadine, astemizole, cisapride

Common side effects

  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Constipation
  • Dizziness

Counselling Points

  • Take with or without food
  • Use non-hormonal contraception during and after treatment

Serious warnings

  • Caution in severe hepatic impairment
  • Monitor INR in warfarin patients
