    Indication

    Treatment of infections caused by susceptible Gram-positive organisms.

    Dosage (summary)

    Adults: 250 mg four times daily; may double in severe infections.

    Special Populations

    • Renal impairment
    • Hepatic impairment

    Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

    Not recommended in pregnancy or breastfeeding.

    Key Drug Interactions

    • Probenecid
    • Methotrexate
    • Warfarin
    • Paracetamol

    Contraindications

    • Hypersensitivity to flucloxacillin
    • Previous flucloxacillin associated jaundice

    Common side effects

    • Neutropenia
    • Thrombocytopenia
    • Rash
    • Minor gastrointestinal disturbances

    Counselling Points

    • Take 1 hour before meals
    • Monitor for hypersensitivity reactions
    • Avoid in pregnancy and breastfeeding

    • Risk of anaphylaxis
