Indication
Active immunisation against measles.
Dosage (summary)
0.5 ml subcutaneously at 9 months, booster at 18 months; additional dose at 6 months for HIV positive patients.
Special Populations
- HIV positive patients
- Children with a history of convulsions
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Not to be given to pregnant women; effects on fetus unknown.

Contraindications
- Active respiratory infection
- Acute infectious diseases
- Leukaemia
- Severe anaemia
- Severe renal impairment
- Decompensated heart disease
- Allergy to kanamycin or erythromycin
Common side effects
- Fever
- Burning at injection site
- Skin rash
- Allergic reactions
- Headache
Counselling Points
- Administer immediately after reconstitution
- Store reconstituted vaccine at 2-8u00b0C for up to 6 hours
- Monitor for anaphylaxis
Serious warnings
- Insufficient antibody response in immunosuppressed patients
- Not to be administered intravenously
