Indication

Extension of survival in bulbar variant of motor neuron disease.

Dosage (summary)

100 mg daily (50 mg every 12 hours), taken between meals.

Onset of Action / Duration

Onset: 60-90 mins, Duration: 9-15 hours

Special Populations

  • Renal impairment
  • Hepatic impairment

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation.

  • CYP 1A2 inhibitors (e.g., caffeine, diclofenac)
  • CYP 1A2 inducers (e.g., rifampicin, omeprazole)

Contraindications

  • Severe hypersensitivity to riluzole
  • Hepatic disease
  • Pregnancy
