Indication
Treatment of type 2 diabetes and weight management.
Dosage (summary)
Starting dose: 2.5 mg once weekly, increase to 5 mg after 4 weeks; max 15 mg weekly.
Special Populations
- Elderly
- Renal impairment
- Hepatic impairment
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Not recommended during pregnancy; unknown if excreted in breast milk.
Key Drug Interactions
- Insulin secretagogues
- Oral contraceptives
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to tirzepatide
- Personal/family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma
- Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2

- Nausea
- Diarrhoea
- Vomiting
- Hypoglycaemia

- Monitor for signs of thyroid tumours
- Stay hydrated to avoid dehydration
- Rotate injection sites
