Indication

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Use during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Caution is advised when using during lactation.
Key Drug Interactions
- No significant drug interactions reported; however, caution is advised when used with other topical corticosteroids.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to mometasone furoate or any component of the formulation.
- Untreated bacterial, viral, or fungal infections of the skin.
Common side effects
- Local skin reactions (burning, itching, irritation)
- Atrophy of the skin
- Striae
- Telangiectasia
- Systemic effects with prolonged use (adrenal suppression)
Counselling Points
- Instruct patients to apply only to the affected areas and avoid contact with eyes.
- Advise against occlusive dressings unless directed by a healthcare provider.
- Inform patients to report any signs of infection or worsening of skin condition.
Serious warnings
- Prolonged use may lead to skin atrophy and other local adverse effects.
- Systemic absorption may occur, especially in large areas or with occlusive dressings.
- Use with caution in patients with a history of steroid sensitivity.
