    Dosage (summary)

    5 mg once daily, may increase to 10 mg or 20 mg if necessary.

    Special Populations

    • Elderly
    • Renal impairment
    • Hepatic impairment

    Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

    Not recommended during pregnancy; unknown if excreted in breast milk.

    Key Drug Interactions

    • Calcium antagonists
    • Clonidine
    • Digoxin
    • NSAIDs

    Contraindications

    • Hypersensitivity
    • Severe bronchial asthma
    • Uncontrolled cardiac failure
    • Severe peripheral arterial disease

    Common side effects

    • Dizziness
    • Fatigue
    • Nausea
    • Bradycardia

    Counselling Points

    • Take once daily in the morning
    • Do not discontinue without consulting a doctor
    • Monitor for signs of bradycardia

    Serious warnings

    • Do not stop abruptly
    • Caution in patients with heart failure
    • May mask hypoglycemia
