Indication

Dosage (summary)
Starting dose: 18 mg once daily for children/adolescents; 18 or 36 mg for adults.
Onset of Action / Duration
Onset: 12 hours after dosing.
Special Populations
- Elderly
- Hepatic impairment
- Renal impairment
- Children under 6 years
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Not recommended during pregnancy; excreted in breast milk.

Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to methylphenidate
- Glaucoma
- Phaeochromocytoma
- Severe depression
- Cardiovascular disorders

- Insomnia
- Anorexia
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Nervousness
Counselling Points
- Take in the morning with water, do not chew or crush
- Monitor for changes in mood or behavior
- Regular follow-up for growth in children
Serious warnings
- Risk of sudden death in patients with cardiac abnormalities
- Potential for abuse and dependence
- Emergence of psychiatric symptoms
