    Indication

    Treatment of fungal infections of the mouth.

    Dosage (summary)

    Infants 4-24 months: 1.25 ml four times daily; Adults/children 2+ years: 2.5 ml four times daily.

    Special Populations

    • Infants under 4 months
    • Hepatic impairment

    Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

    Not safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

    Key Drug Interactions

    • Warfarin
    • Oral hypoglycemics
    • Phenytoin

    Contraindications

    • Hypersensitivity to miconazole
    • Infants <4 months
    • Impaired liver function

    Common side effects

    • Dysgeusia
    • Dry mouth
    • Nausea
    • Vomiting

    Counselling Points

    • Avoid contact with eyes
    • Monitor for choking
    • Do not apply to breastfeeding nipple
