Indication
Induction and maintenance of general anaesthesia; sedation in ventilated adults.
Dosage (summary)
Induction: 1.5-2.5 mg/kg; Maintenance: 4-12 mg/kg/hr; Sedation: 0.3-4 mg/kg/hr.
Onset of Action / Duration
Onset: 30 secs, Duration: variable.
Special Populations
- Elderly
- ASA Grades 3 and 4
- Children under 3 years
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Contraindicated in pregnancy; not recommended during breastfeeding for 24 hours post-administration.

- Rifampicin
- Valproate
- Opioids
- Benzodiazepines
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to propofol
- Children under 3 years
- Pregnant women

- Hypotension
- Bradycardia
- Respiratory depression
- Nausea
