Indication

Pulmonary tuberculosis in children.

Dosage (summary)

Daily: Rifampicin 15 mg/kg (max 600 mg), Isoniazid 10 mg/kg (max 300 mg).

Special Populations

  • Hepatic impairment
  • Renal impairment

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Safety not established; crosses placenta and excreted in breastmilk.

Key Drug Interactions

  • Nevirapine
  • Saquinavir/Ritonavir
  • Corticosteroids
  • Warfarin

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to rifampicin or isoniazid
  • Jaundice
  • Severe renal/hepatic impairment

Common side effects

  • Hepatotoxicity
  • Peripheral neuropathy
  • Gastrointestinal disturbances
