Indication

Treatment of HIV-1 in adults, adolescents, and children over 3 years and 13 kg.

Dosage (summary)

Adults: 600 mg orally once daily, preferably at bedtime.

Special Populations

  • Hepatic impairment
  • Renal impairment
  • Elderly patients

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Contraindicated in pregnancy; not recommended during breastfeeding.

Key Drug Interactions

  • CYP3A4 inducers/inhibitors
  • St. John's wort
  • Cisapride
  • Midazolam

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to efavirenz
  • Severe hepatic impairment
  • Concurrent use with certain medications
