Indication
Adjunct to general anaesthesia for tracheal intubation and muscle relaxation.
Dosage (summary)
0.6 mg/kg for intubation; maintenance 0.15 mg/kg.

Onset: 60-90 secs, Duration: 30-50 mins

- Geriatric patients
- Hepatic impairment

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Key Drug Interactions
- Halogenated volatile anaesthetics
- Aminoglycoside antibiotics
- Corticosteroids
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to rocuronium
- Neonates
- Paediatric and geriatric patients for mechanical ventilation
Common side effects
- Injection site pain
- Prolonged neuromuscular block
- Hypotension
Counselling Points
- Monitor for respiratory function post-administration.
- Avoid driving or operating machinery for 24 hours post-recovery.
- Titrate dosage based on neuromuscular monitoring.
Serious warnings
- Anaphylaxis risk
- Residual curarisation
- Prolonged paralysis in ICU
