Indication
Treatment of various eczemas.
Dosage (summary)
Apply thinly once daily; max 12 weeks in adults, 4 weeks in children.
Special Populations
- Elderly
- Children under 4 months
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Not recommended during pregnancy; caution in breastfeeding.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to methylprednisolone aceponate
- Tuberculous or syphilitic processes
- Viral diseases
- Facial application in rosacea or ulcers
- Children under 4 months
Common side effects
- Burning at application site
- Pruritus
- Skin atrophy
- Acne
- Rebound flares
Counselling Points
- Apply only to affected areas
- Avoid occlusive dressings
- Monitor for signs of hypersensitivity
- Limit use duration to prevent rebound flares
Serious warnings
- Prolonged use may cause skin atrophy
- Caution in sensitive areas
- Risk of HPA axis suppression in children
- Avoid contact with eyes and mucosae
