- Polyvalent cations (calcium, magnesium, iron, aluminium)
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to risedronate
- Hypocalcaemia
- Advanced renal impairment (creatinine clearance < 30 ml/min)
Common side effects
- Dyspepsia
- Nausea
- Abdominal pain
- Musculoskeletal pain
- Headache
Counselling Points
- Take with a full glass of water
- Remain upright for 30 minutes after taking
- Avoid taking with food or drinks other than water
Serious warnings
- Upper gastrointestinal disorders
- Atypical femur fractures
- Osteonecrosis of the jaw
