Dosage (summary)
Initial: 600 mg/day, may increase to 2400 mg/day based on response.
Special Populations
- Elderly
- Renal impairment
- Hepatic impairment
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Risk of congenital malformations; not recommended during breastfeeding.
Key Drug Interactions
- Hormonal contraceptives may be less effective.
- CYP2C19 inhibitors may require dose adjustments.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to oxcarbazepine or excipients.
Common side effects
- Somnolence
- Dizziness
- Diplopia
- Nausea
- Fatigue

- Monitor for signs of hypersensitivity.
- Avoid alcohol.
- Gradual withdrawal recommended.

- Risk of serious skin reactions.
