Indication

Short-term treatment of mild to moderate pain and fever.

Dosage (summary)

Adults >50 kg: 1 g (100 ml) up to 4 times daily; <50 kg: 15 mg/kg up to 4 times daily.

Onset of Action / Duration

Onset: 15 mins, Duration: 4-6 hours

Special Populations

  • Renal impairment
  • Hepatic impairment

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Use only if benefits outweigh risks; minimal excretion in breastmilk.

Key Drug Interactions

  • Phenytoin may decrease efficacy and increase hepatotoxicity.
  • Probenecid decreases clearance.
  • Anticoagulants may alter INR values.

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to paracetamol.
  • Severe hepatocellular insufficiency.

Common side effects

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Skin rash
