Indication
Prevention and treatment of dehydration and electrolyte depletion associated with diarrhoea and gastro-enteritis.
Dosage (summary)
Infants: 100-200 mL per bowel movement; Children: 200 mL per bowel movement; Adults: 2-3 L/day.
Special Populations
- Renal impairment
- Diabetes insipidus
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Safety during pregnancy and lactation not established.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to ingredients
- Renal failure
- Intestinal obstruction
- Severe diarrhoea requiring parenteral therapy
Counselling Points
- Administer in small, frequent amounts
- Discard unused solution after 24 hours
- Do not mix with other solutions
Serious warnings
- Monitor hydration in infants
- Caution in renal failure and diabetes
- Risk of vomiting with rapid intake
