Indication
Active immunization against invasive disease and pneumonia caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae.
Dosage (summary)
0.5 mL IM for adults; 3 doses for infants, with a booster at 11-15 months.
Special Populations
- Elderly (u2265 65 years)
- Preterm infants
- Individuals with HIV
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Use only if clearly needed during pregnancy; unknown if excreted in breast milk.
Key Drug Interactions
- Concomitant with inactivated influenza vaccine
- Immunosuppressive therapies may reduce immune response
Contraindications
- Severe allergic reaction to any component or diphtheria toxoid-containing vaccine

- Injection site pain
- Fatigue
- Myalgia
- Headache
- Fever

- Shake vigorously before use
- Do not inject if discolored or contains particulates
- Administer IM only

- Altered immunocompetence may reduce immune response
