Zytomil Coated Tablet

Indication

Treatment of major depressive episodes and anxiety disorders.

Dosage (summary)

Adults: 10 mg daily, max 20 mg; Panic disorder: 5 mg for 1 week, then 10 mg daily, max 20 mg.

Onset of Action / Duration

Onset: 2-4 weeks, Duration: several months.

Special Populations

• Elderly patients
• Hepatic impairment
• Renal impairment

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation.

Key Drug Interactions

• MAO inhibitors
• Pimozide
• Linezolid
• QT prolonging medications

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to escitalopram
• Children under 18 years
• QT interval prolongation
• Porphyria

• Nausea
• Dizziness
• Insomnia
• Sexual dysfunction

Counselling Points

• Monitor for worsening depression or suicidality.
• Avoid abrupt discontinuation.
• Caution with alcohol and CNS depressants.
