Indication

Symptomatic relief of localized, traumatic inflammation and pain.

Dosage (summary)

Apply 2 g to 4 g three to four times daily to affected areas.

Special Populations

  • Children
  • Pregnant women
  • Lactating women

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Not recommended during pregnancy and lactation; safety not established.

Key Drug Interactions

  • Lithium
  • Acetylsalicylic acid

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to diclofenac
  • Asthma induced by NSAIDs
  • Porphyria

Common side effects

  • Rash
  • Eczema
  • Headache
  • Dizziness

Counselling Points

  • Wash hands after application
  • Avoid contact with eyes
  • Do not apply to open wounds

Serious warnings

  • Risk of systemic adverse events with high dosages
  • Caution in asthmatic patients
