Dosage (summary)
Adults: 12.5-200 mg daily for oedema; 12.5 mg daily for hypertension.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

- Antidiabetic medicines
- Lithium
- Corticosteroids
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to hydrochlorothiazide
- Anuria
- Severe renal insufficiency
- Severe hepatic impairment
- Addisonu2019s disease
Common side effects
- Hypokalaemia
- Dizziness
- Headache
- Nausea
- Photosensitivity
Counselling Points
- Take in the morning to reduce nocturia
- Monitor blood pressure regularly
- Report any skin changes or visual disturbances
Serious warnings
- Risk of electrolyte imbalance
- Potential for non-melanoma skin cancer
- Acute angle-closure glaucoma
