Indication
Temporary aid for smoking cessation.
Dosage (summary)
Adults: Use for 3 months, gradually reduce to 1-2 gums/day.
Onset of Action / Duration
Onset: 5-7 mins, Duration: 30 mins
Special Populations
- Hepatic impairment
- Renal impairment
- Elderly
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Contraindicated in pregnancy; nicotine passes into breast milk.

- CYP1A2 substrates
- Adenosine
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to nicotine
- Post-myocardial infarction
- Severe angina
- Active TMJ disease

- Nausea
- Headache
- Mouth irritation
- Hiccups

- Chew slowly until taste, then stop
- Do not exceed 15 pieces/day
- Carry gum for cravings
