Indication

Dosage (summary)

Adults: 1-2 g once daily; severe cases: up to 4 g. Children: 20-80 mg/kg once daily.

Special Populations

  • Elderly
  • Renal impairment
  • Hepatic impairment

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Use in pregnancy only if benefits outweigh risks; excreted in breast milk, monitor infants.

Key Drug Interactions

  • Calcium-containing solutions
  • Oral anticoagulants
  • Chloramphenicol

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to ceftriaxone
  • Severe hypersensitivity to beta-lactams
  • Hyperbilirubinemic neonates
