Indication

Tachydysrhythmias including atrial fibrillation and ventricular fibrillation.

Dosage (summary)

5 mg/kg IV infusion over 20 mins to 2 hours; max 1200 mg/24 hours.

Special Populations

  • Elderly
  • Renal impairment
  • Hepatic impairment

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation due to risks to fetus and infant.

  • Digoxin
  • Sofosbuvir
  • Beta-blockers
  • Calcium channel blockers

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to amiodarone
  • Severe bradycardia
  • High grade AV block
  • Severe respiratory failure

  • Bradycardia
  • Hypotension
  • Infusion phlebitis
