Indication
Management of hypertension, either alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents.
Dosage (summary)
The usual starting dose is 40 mg/5 mg once daily. The dose may be increased to 80 mg/10 mg once daily based on blood pressure response.
Onset of Action / Duration
Antihypertensive effect typically observed within 2 weeks of initiation, with maximum effect seen after 4-6 weeks.
Special Populations
- Elderly patients may require dose adjustment.
- Patients with renal impairment should be monitored closely.
- Patients with hepatic impairment should use with caution.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Use is not recommended during pregnancy and lactation due to potential harm to the fetus and infant.
Key Drug Interactions
- Concomitant use with potassium-sparing diuretics may increase the risk of hyperkalemia.
- Caution with other antihypertensive agents due to additive effects.
- NSAIDs may reduce the antihypertensive effect.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to telmisartan, amlodipine, or any component of the formulation.
- Severe hypotension.
