Adults: 500-600 mg daily in 2-3 doses; Children: 360-480 mg/m2 daily.

- Hypersensitivity
- Low neutrophil count
- Low hemoglobin
- Breastfeeding
Common side effects
- Anaemia
- Neutropenia
- Nausea
- Vomiting

- Monitor blood parameters regularly
- Not effective in preventing HIV transmission to others
Serious warnings
- Risk of lactic acidosis
- Not a cure for HIV
