Contraindicated in pregnancy; not recommended during breastfeeding.

Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to daunorubicin
- Severe myelosuppression
- Impaired cardiac function
- Severe hepatic or renal impairment

Common side effects
- Cardiomyopathy
- Nausea/vomiting
- Alopecia
- Bone marrow failure
Counselling Points
- Monitor for signs of infection and bleeding.
- Avoid live vaccines.
- Use effective contraception during treatment.

- Cardiotoxicity risk
- Severe myelosuppression
- Potential for secondary leukaemia
