Indication

Dosage (summary)
50 mg taken 1 hour before sexual activity; max 100 mg/day.
Onset of Action / Duration
Onset: 30-120 mins, Duration: 4-6 hours
Special Populations
- Elderly
- Renal impairment
- Hepatic impairment
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Not indicated for women; no studies in pregnant/breastfeeding women.
Key Drug Interactions
- Nitrates
- CYP3A4 inhibitors
- Guanylate cyclase stimulators
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to sildenafil
- Severe hepatic impairment
- Severe renal impairment
- Concurrent use of nitrates
- History of NAION
Common side effects
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Flushing
- Visual disturbances
Counselling Points
- Take 1 hour before sexual activity
- Avoid nitrates
- Report any prolonged erection
Serious warnings
- Cardiovascular risk in patients with heart conditions
- Risk of priapism
- Potential for sudden hearing loss
