Indication
Treatment of moderate to severe infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
Dosage (summary)
Adults: 1 g IV/IM once daily; Pediatrics: 15 mg/kg twice daily (max 1 g/day).

Onset: 2 hours, Duration: 24 hours

- Elderly
- Renal impairment
- Hepatic impairment
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Safety in pregnancy and lactation not established; excreted in breast milk.
Key Drug Interactions
- Probenecid increases plasma concentrations
- Decreased serum levels of valproic acid
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to ertapenem or beta-lactams
- Bacterial meningitis
- Severe shock or heart block
