Indication

Dosage (summary)

20 mg once daily for duodenal ulcer; 10-40 mg for prevention; 20 mg for gastric ulcer and reflux.

  • Renal impairment
  • Hepatic impairment

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Safety in pregnancy and lactation not established.

Key Drug Interactions

  • Clopidogrel
  • Nelfinavir
  • Atazanavir
  • Methotrexate

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to omeprazole
  • Concomitant use with nelfinavir

  • Headache
  • Abdominal pain
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhoea
  • Nausea

  • Take in the morning with water
  • Do not chew or crush capsules
  • Report any unusual symptoms

Serious warnings

  • Risk of gastric malignancy
  • Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea
  • Acute interstitial nephritis
