Indication

Dosage (summary)

2 mg orally at birth; 1 mg IM/IV for at-risk neonates.

Special Populations

  • Premature infants
  • Hepatobiliary disease
  • Inability to swallow

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Safety and efficacy in pregnancy and lactation not demonstrated.

  • Antagonises warfarin

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to constituents

  • Tissue necrosis
  • Anaphylactoid reactions
  • Local irritation

Serious warnings

  • Increased risk of kernicterus in premature infants <2.5 kg
