    Indication

    To improve wakefulness in adult patients with excessive daytime sleepiness associated with narcolepsy.

    Dosage (summary)

    150 mg or 250 mg once daily in the morning.

    Special Populations

    • Hepatic impairment
    • Renal impairment
    • Elderly

    Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

    Contraindicated in pregnancy; not recommended during breastfeeding.

    Key Drug Interactions

    • CYP3A4 inducers/inhibitors
    • CYP2C19 substrates
    • Steroidal contraceptives

    Contraindications

    • Hypersensitivity to armodafinil
    • Pregnancy
    • Uncontrolled hypertension

    Common side effects

    • Headache
    • Nausea
    • Dizziness
    • Insomnia

    Counselling Points

    • Take on an empty stomach for faster onset.
    • Monitor for signs of rash or hypersensitivity.
    • Avoid driving until effects are known.

    Serious warnings

    • Serious rash including Stevens-Johnson Syndrome
