Indication
Adjunct to general anaesthesia for tracheal intubation and muscle relaxation.
Dosage (summary)
0.6 mg/kg for intubation; maintenance 0.15 mg/kg.
Onset of Action / Duration
Onset: 60-90 secs, Duration: 30-50 mins.

Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to rocuronium
- Neonates
- Paediatric and elderly patients in ICU
Common side effects
- Injection site pain
- Prolonged neuromuscular block
- Tachycardia
- Hypersensitivity reactions
Counselling Points
- Ensure ventilatory support until recovery
- Monitor neuromuscular function
- Avoid driving or operating machinery for 24 hours post-recovery
Serious warnings
- Respiratory muscle paralysis
- Risk of anaphylaxis
- Prolonged neuromuscular blockade
- Medication errors may lead to death
