Special Populations
- Renal impairment
- Hepatic impairment
- Children < 3 months
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Use in pregnancy if clinically needed; avoid breastfeeding to prevent HIV transmission.
Key Drug Interactions
- Increased lamivudine levels with trimethoprim
- Not recommended with zalcitabine or other cytidine analogues
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to lamivudine or excipients
Common side effects
- Peripheral neuropathy
- Pancreatitis
- Skin rash
- Lactic acidosis

- Monitor for symptoms of lactic acidosis
