Dosage (summary)
Starting dose: 200 mg twice daily; may increase to 600-2400 mg daily as needed.

- Pregnancy
- Diabetes mellitus
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
Not established for first 20 weeks of pregnancy; use with caution after 20 weeks.

Contraindications
- First 20 weeks of pregnancy
- Digitalis-resistant heart failure
- AV block
Common side effects
- Postural hypotension
- Nasal stuffiness
- Vivid dreams
- Epigastric pain
Counselling Points
- Take after food
- Monitor blood pressure regularly
- Report any signs of jaundice
Serious warnings
- Associated with jaundice; discontinue if jaundice develops.
