Indication

Treatment of HIV infection in adults and adolescents.

Dosage (summary)

One tablet once daily for adults and adolescents over 40 kg.

Special Populations

  • Renal impairment
  • Hepatic impairment
  • Elderly

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding due to potential teratogenicity.

Key Drug Interactions

  • Dofetilide
  • Pilsicainide
  • Metformin
  • Antacids containing polyvalent cations

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to components
  • Moderate and severe hepatic impairment
  • Creatinine clearance < 50 ml/min

Common side effects

  • Hypersensitivity reactions
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhoea
  • Fatigue
  • Rash

Counselling Points

  • Inform about hypersensitivity risks and symptoms.
  • Never restart TRELAVUE after hypersensitivity.
  • Monitor for signs of lactic acidosis.
  • Avoid breastfeeding while on TRELAVUE.
